Hot take: Conservatives only oppose Sen. Kamala Harris because she’s a strong black woman

6 months, 10 days ago

We kind of lied in the headline — this take isn’t hot, it’s just been warmed over in the microwave so many times that it seems hot. You see, the only reason conservatives like to pounce on Sen. Kamala Harris is because she’s a black woman.

This Christmas Eve, I’m thinking of the California families who lost everything in the tragic wildfires, the unaccompanied children sitting in detention centers, and the thousands of federal workers whose future paychecks are uncertain. We must resolve to fight for them.

Why do conservative pundits hate this woman? She has compassion for humanity, why is that a bad thing?

— David Weissman (@davidmweissman) December 24, 2018

A lot of people have compassion for humanity, but not all of them feel compelled to tweet about it for political purposes.

She's a strong black woman. That's like their least favorite kind of person.

— Thor Benson (@thor_benson) December 24, 2018

And do you know what a liberal’s least favorite kind of person is? A black conservative. Change our minds — we’ve read all of your tweets about black conservatives being “professional buck dancing blackface artists” and tokens and house slaves and clowns in blackface and Uncle Toms and a whole list of names we can’t (and wouldn’t) type here.

But it’s conservatives who can’t deal with a strong black woman (who also happens to be consistently liberal in her politics):

Because conservatives see her as a legitimate threat to the status quo they want to uphold.

Easy, she is a strong woman of color

— Carla Dimond (@carladimond) December 24, 2018

Last word. First sentence.

They hate women.

Epsecually a woman who also dares to be of color while, get this, speaking her mind.

— (((evan shapiro))) (@eshap) December 24, 2018

Show us how much you love women of color who speak their minds: add the hashtag #NikkiHaley2024 to your next tweet.

The hate is deep, based on a upsetting of their world order, their patriarchal society and that women should not be in roles of leadership- especially black women. Think of How the Catholic Church won’t allow female priests- that scared.

Black? Beautiful? Confident? Female? Pick one.

— DeadorDyingJohnyKeats (@JohnyKeats) December 24, 2018

David, they fear her because she is a strong, intelligent, compassionate and she is an African American woman

All things they fear

Might have something to do with her skin color and that she is a she

— Andrea C (@OnyxandBella) December 24, 2018

Racism and sexism have an awful lot to do with it, David.

That – plus their ideology depends on squashing anyone/anything who's not white, conservative Christian, and wealthy. They think helping the less fortunate harms the fortunate.

— AquaShna (@shna23) December 24, 2018

Don’t be so dim. She’s not white. They hate that.

— Flibber T. Gibbett (@amigammon) December 24, 2018

She is a woman. She is a woman of color. She is a woman of color who speaks her mind. She is also can potentially defeat Trump in 2020.

— KarenE #MuellerFan (@KarenE43854428) December 24, 2018

Um, you might want to have a talk with your (we presume) fellow Democrats who consistently rank Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders (and now Beto O’Rourke) far ahead of everyone else (including Harris and Sen. Cory Booker) in every poll regarding 2020.

There’s not a conservative on the planet who wouldn’t love for Condoleezza Rice to get into politics, you ignorant fucking clown.

— RBe (@RBPundit) December 24, 2018

You mean this Condoleezza Rice?

Tell us again who has a problem with strong black women who speak their minds.
